The Yang Lab

We are hiring two postdoctoral researchers now for a newly funded, interdisciplinary program at the interface of biosensing and wearable bioelectronics, in close collaboration with the Baker Lab at the UW Institute for Protein Design (Prof. David Baker, 2024 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry).
Target start: ~September 2026.

Position 1 - Biochemical Sensing
PhD in electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience in electrochemical and/or affinity-based biosensing.
Ideal candidates have experience with:
· Surface functionalization and immobilization of biomolecules on electrodes
· Characterizing sensor performance (sensitivity, selectivity, limit of detection, stability) in complex biological samples
· Biomolecule handling and anti-fouling surface chemistry (a plus)

Position 2 - Wearable Bioelectronic Devices
PhD in electrical, materials, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field), with strong hands-on microfabrication/cleanroom experience. Ideal candidates have experience with:
· Thin-film deposition, photolithography, patterning, and electrode fabrication on flexible substrates
· Flexible/wearable device integration, microfluidics, and multi-material device stacks
· Device characterization and reliability testing

What we offer: a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, including the opportunity to work closely with, and potentially be co-advised by, the Baker Lab/Institute for Protein Design; state-of-the-art nanofabrication and characterization facilities; and a project with strong translational goals toward real-world health applications.
